On this exciting tour, you'll take an unforgettable journey into the past on board one of Canada’s last remaining authentic steam-powered trains. You’ll travel a short distance by motor coach to the bi-centennial city of Gatineau where you’ll board the Wakefield Steam Train for a scenic 64km journey along the banks of the sinuous Gatineau River. You'll travel in grand style in the Riviera Car, a fully refurbished luxury car. Bilingual tour guides share their knowledge of the region’s history and the train’s own minstrels introduce you to local folklore as they stroll about the coaches spouting lively tunes and tales. Your ticket includes:

  • Champagne and hors d’oeuvres upon boarding
  • Tea time at Les Trois Érables Inn in Wakefield at your leisure
  • A Commemorative gift on your return trip

Your 90-minute train ride ends in the picturesque village of Wakefield, Québec. Upon arrival in Wakefield, you’ll witness the spectacular pivoting of the 93-ton steam locomotive on Canada’s only operating manual turntable. Many unique arts and crafts shops await you in Wakefield and you’ll have two hours to explore the village at your leisure before the return train trip to Gatineau. A motor coach will return you to the hotel following the train journey.
